The metal ones are indeed nice in that they hold up very well and can be
repaired almost indefinitely.
Just had one cleaned, tested, and repaired for about $75 to use in my
grey car.
The plastic/aluminum ones, are, however, much much lighter, and last
until they break after 10-15 years. Were they ever used in new cars of
this vintage? I thought all the originals were all-metal...
