Mirror repair

I thought I'd be a good dad and swap the stained exterior mirror glass on my son's '97 A6 with new euro mirror glass (convex outer section on driver side).

Well...I managed to break the white plastic adjusting arms on both mirrors, the piece that helps control the adjustment.

Looks like these are not available separately from Audi.

Has anyone come up with a good fix...or a source of these parts by themselves?

Is there a better solution? CNC machined in aluminum? Talbot racing mirrors on the front wings?
