Symptoms of clutch going? Squeaking sound in front

in general, as the clutch wears, required effort goes UP, because the leverage angle on the pressure plate fingers is less.

I would guess the squeak is the clutch pedal.

I suspect BOTh may be the plastic-encapsulated clutch pedal return spring assembly.  Cheap and easy DIY replacement when it fails.

Oh, you'll know. The pedal ill stay on the floor and rquire a toe to pull it back up.
