I liked the Merritt when I drove through Conn a couple of years 
ago.  We just don't have driving like that here in the south.  2 
lanes each direction, pavement as wide for both lanes as it is for 
one lane in NC.  Cars travelling bumper to bumper at 70 mph, gas 
stations along the road with incredibly short merge lanes, plus all 
kinds of obstacles alongside the road (trees, stone walls, etc.) in 
case someone screws up.
