Valeo alternator quality

My '88 Jettahas a Valeo alternator on it, and so does my son's '91 Golf. The front bearing never lasts more than 15KMiles. (The V-belt is not overtightened!)

The reason is probably a combination of a smallish bearing and a V-belt pulley that is attached quite a distance away from the front bearing.
The Bosch 90A alternator that I saved from my Fox when I junked it at 160KMiles, is a bolt-in replacement, and still does not have any play in the bearing.
Now I am curious how long the Valeo alternator on my '03 V6 Passat is going to last?

Peter

I'll add a few things here.

Valeo is also an OEM VAG supplier, and good quality from my experience.
