So... has anyone ever figured out what all these numbers on the

Since a mechanical speedometer works by a spinning magnet acting on the 
needle (indirectly) which is held back by a spring couldn't the W number 
indicate the force of the spring? Maybe it's magnet RPM required to indicate 
a certain speed.

Miles or Kilometers ?

Anyway, for my car : tires are 205/60R15 (817 revs per mile), final drive is
3.89:1, and the speedo is W-1000.

Anyone willing to calculate the formulae ?
