How can anyone possibly buy a used Audi quattro anymore?

I'm in the same boat. My '99 A4 Avant, V6 w/Tiptronic is pissing me off.
I put $2000 into it last year to pass inspection and be good for... a
year? It needs tires, and front brake pads, and its making noises from
the front suspension. I was thinking I'd put more $$$ into it, until
the AC went on me. I just had that fixed last year for too much money.
I'm not going to do it again.

Someone on the list mentioned an '07 Rabbit as the best VAG bang for
the buck. I test rode one the other day. I liked it. I *really* liked
it. 4-door hatch, 6-speed Tiptronic, seats that feel better (more
support under my thighs, snug along the rib cage) than the S4 seats
I put in my A4. Controls were familiar and well placed, the 5-cylinder
engine had enough zip (but not like my '91 20V). It seemed quieter
than my Avant. I can live with FWD. The only doubt I have is, is this
another VAG product that will need expensive repairs? Most of what I
find says, "No." It's no Honda, but then neither is it a Subaru.

Now I find myself seriously shopping for an '07 Rabbit. The A4 Avant
will be for sale shortly.
