Final Question on A4 Avant Help

A bit late here ...
Someone mentioned MAF - to check, unplug it and start it, if it runs
better, it is a bad MAF. When this happened to me, the CEL was blinking,
then stayed on.
I'd also guess this engine might ingest unmetered air from somewhere.
If it's the MAF, VCDS (formerly VAG-COM) might indicate specific or random
cylinder misfire, might not necessarily spell out "bad MAF". There's a
directory of VCDS owners, maybe 1 is close to you.
