Charcoal Canister Delete?

Yeah... the only "original" "vacuum hose" on my 82 Coupe is the one
going through the inner fender to the charcoal can. While I guess
deleting it might seem easy, where do I run the fuel tank vent line to then?
By the way, during the comparison to airplanes and altitude-related
"pressure in the tank" issues, I was thinking that it is still an issue
with cars - not so much to balance the tank and carburetor, of course,
but to cope with the expansion and contraction of the air in the tank
(and to a lesser extent, the fuel) due to ambient temps, which could
easily run 10% over a 24 hour cycle.
Of course it's rare to see a pre-OBD II car where the system still works
properly and completely (maintaining a light vacuum in the tank),
although a new gas cap may be all they need. OBD II cars will throw a
code and light the MIL if it's not working right. Hmmmm, maybe I should
smoke-test my gas tank one of these days out of curiosity...
