The A4s are appearing more frequently in bone yards so getting a used
unit should be easy enough. Not sure if this is common failure item
though, earlier Audi CV ends on the driveshafts could be replaced easy
enough. The center bearing/Universal varied by model/year, look to see
the if the Universal bearing caps in center yolks are staked vs.
circlipped that is a critical element to any easy replacement task.
