One Flat Turns to Four

Grant,
The difference in circumference between a new 16" tire for my A4 & one
with 3/32" of treadwear is less than 0.75%. Not enough to make any sort
of difference in diff. wear for real world driving where steering
corrections left & right are a 'fact of life'. There may be some extra
strain on the diff. in a 'lab' type situation where the car is driving
in a perfectly straight line for thousands of miles, but given slight
differences in tire pressures & the manufacturing tolerances of the
tires & drivetrain, I doubt it.
