one flat turns to four

Is that space saver the same height as a *new* stock tire, or a *worn* stock
tire?

Doesn't the auto V8Q have a non-Torsen, not the same as "normal"
manual-transmission quattros, center diff arrangement?

BTW my B7 avant has a full-size spare, on a 5th stock 17" 5-double-spoke
wheel - it's a "new" as in never been driven upon tire. The old 200q20v had
a space saver (narrower) that looked about the same diameter as the normal
wheels but I never measured or tried it.
