Sold my last Audi

I do like my 1.8T, at least until I drove a 2.0T...! Would like the additional 30 or so horses. But easily accomplished with a chip, I
guess.... Strangely enough, my son's 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg with the 1.8T actually has 10 more hp than my car (180 vs 170) which
I think it attributed to a less restrictive exhaust manifold (being transverse-mounted). With no AWD weight, his car really moves.

What others said is correct. Shortly after I purchased my car, Audi changed the oil change interval from 10k to 5k miles. They had
previously 'recommended' synthetic, then it became required. They also switched to a filter .5 qt larger, for a capacity of 4.5 qts. It's
actually a Rabbit diesel filter! At any rate, I have always done 5k synthetic oil changes (0w-40 Mobil1) and a new OEM filter from new,
and have no sludge issues. I think they were more of an issue with the first B6 cars (2002 - 2003).

Still wish I had that extra 30 hp, though. ;-)

If I go with a VW, it would probably be a TDI of some sort.

(And then I go and find a nice 2004 A4 Avant...  How bad are
the 1.8T engines, what with reports of sludge and all?)
