break in /RE: VW 2.0T question

My procedure:
First 500 miles- go as easy as possible.
Next 500 miles: every 100 miles, increase acceptable RPM limit so that by
900 miles, redline is used occasionally.
At 1000 miles, change oil and filter.  Synthetic only from that point on
(if factory is dino, this is a change).

Of course, during break-in, vary RPM, no cruise control, etc.

And all normal things still apply- bring engine up to temp. slowly by
driving, etc.
