No, don't believe fuel, or lack of (in the tank) is the issue!
Just enlarged the video clip and went through it again. Tach is registering,
but seems to have a slight delay (maybe four seconds) before it comes up.
Then, noticed the speedo goes to apx 15 mph as he's cranking. NO, the car is
not rolling as he's cranking! Wouldn't imagine a flakey gauge cluster would
prevent the car from starting. And, it WAS okay prior to this event
Even if he gets a reader he wouldn't be able to really do anything. Hoping
to find a recommendation for a VAG type shop! Much easier if you have the
right software for the vehicle. I manage an automotive restoration/repair
shop, know all too well how that goes. Not to mention that working on
European vehicles requires a different mindset, patience, and a touch of
stubbornness!
My daughter is also attending Cortland. After a serious thrash on her car
(jetta) and attempting to foresee all that might, could, or would go wrong I
also received the "my car's broke" phone call two weeks ago. Hers was easy,
ship a Bosch alternator from our distributor, have my son drive almost two
hours (he's north of Syracuse) to install. Alternator is easy, thinking the
Audi won't be quite so..
Thoughts?
Eric
