This discussion reminds me of a tech that said use a quart of diesel with
the oil in the crankcase.
He runs it for a minute or so, then drains and adds new oil and filter.
Says it works better than anything else.
Anybody heard of this or any experience with it?

Subject: Re: Valve lifters - again
I never disassembled any, but I did run some Marvell Mystery Oil in my
5kCSQA to try to quiet noisy lifters a hundred miles or so before an oil
change. They were quiet right after the oil change, but put up a terrible
racket shortly thereafter ... I ended up having to pull the cam and replace
them.
I suspect the bores wear, sealed by oil residue, and any attempt to clean
them will result in causing oil to leak around the piston. I've decided
that if I'm not going to replace them I'm going to leave them as they are
(no attempt to clean them to quiet them).
