no sludge issues per se on the 2.0 HOWEVER there is a particular spec the
oil needs to meet to help with the cam follower wear issues. and yes,
carbon build up.
due to fsi there is a second fuel pump on the rail that runs off a cam
lobe. the cam follower wears out and can cause metal bits to go wandering
around your engine, often catastrophically. mot of them that have the issue
have been either recalled or blown up and repaired. pretty sure that ny 08
they were mostly sorted [iirc it was a bad batch of coatings on the CF's].
still reccomended procedure these days is to check the CF every other oil
change. its 45 mins and a 50$ part. just something to be aware of. MUCH
more so in modded cars with ecu, and especially upgraded HPFP high pressure
fool pumps.
most dealers have a wicked expensive de carbonization process. from what
little ive read catch cans and water injection dont seem to help -for what
that's worth..
i had an 08 a4 s line ti 2.0tqm. maybe the best car ive owned. i loved it.
great mpgs and plenty of zip. get one, just keep an eye on the above.
