The Mazda and Ranger are pretty much identical. This is one of the results
of the Ford/Mazda partnership. It's a good little truck. Pretty much
bulletproof.

The Colorado isn't a bad truck, but likes to eat brakes and the front
brakes, at least, are integrated into the hub IIRC.

If you can find a Toyota T100 or such in your area, or an older Tacoma,
that's my recommendation.

My grandmother has a 2WD T100 with a 4 cylinder, a 5 speed, and an 8 foot
bed; it does fine in the mountains of WV and gets reasonable economy and is
cheap to fix. A 4WD should be pretty good if the 2WD can handle most things
with a load of firewood in the bed.
