the patient is a 1998 A8

The starter seems to be on its way out on this 1998 A8. The Bendix gear is
becoming more and more reluctant to let go of the flywheel upon start.

Any btdt on starter replacement on this car? It looks very hard to get to.
Can the replacement be done without a car hoist and/or without heroic
measures such as pulling the engine or dropping the transmission?
