1998 A8 starter R&R

Thanks to a reasource tip from lister Jan Pinkowish, I started finding a
fair amount of btdt on various A8, under-the-car maintenance procedures. In
summary, I'd say the A8 is a bit of a beast to work on. For example, to
replace the starter, it seems the front sub-frame must be dropped. I've
done that a couple of times on the ol' type 44 but I'd say that is a walk
in the park compared to dropping the sub-frame on a D2 A8.

DIY may become questionable at that level of automobile unless you
basically do it for a living. As another example, I got the impression that
electrically disconnecting the transmission for any reason requires
re-coding the thing back to the car after the mechanical work has been done.

Cheers,

DeWitt
