I looked at a donor fuse box and I am not sure if this thing can be popped open.
Any advice on how to get into the gut of a fusebox in a way I can put it back together?

While the car's running. you could measure the voltage across the fuse on the contact side (i.e. measure the difference in DC voltage across the wires to each side of the fuse).
