I can't believe that either.  The reader in general is awful, you would
think they would realize they need an update.  Add in the fact that it only
works on a 10 year old operating system and I just don't get it.

I don't have any good experience with other manuals (would love to hear if
there are any), but I do have a suggestion for XP.  I have not had good
luck with XP mode.  I use VirtualBox and TinyXP.  Both products are great.
 TinyXP is a little gray on the legality side, but I have unused licenses
for XP so I feel ok about it.
