Can't you do that by installing the relay near the switch? Basically change
the load wires from the switch over to the relay.
Also, I don't understand the "while he was at it".. makes me think 2
different services were performed. If he relayed the headlights, he did
relay the switch, of at least took the major load off of it.

A year and a half ago I replaced my headlight switch. I remembered
that Tony Hoffman had once posted about relaying the headlights to
take some of the load off the switch, and he was kind enough to email
me the instructions and a diagram. I had my mechanic relay the switch
while he was at it.
Now the switch (which was a wrecking yard item) is failing. I called
Force 5 to order one and told the guy (don't remember if it was
Chris, or an employee) the back story, and he suggested that I relay
every cotton-picking circuit that's controlled by the switch. Sound
like a good idea? Thx.
