Had to replace Timing chain tensioner for the 98 2.8 V-6. Right Bank
(passenger side)
Everything was perfect, engine ran smoothly, except I had a bit of an oil
leak.so I had to pull it off and start over.
It was misfiring on the right bank and I took it to our very reliable Audi
guy for a code read. He saw lots of data and it didn't seem to make sense
so he did a "static reset" ??? I gather you can disconnect the battery and
short the postivie and negative leads to the battery and it drops all the
codes (and perhaps lots more) to start afresh.
It cleared the codes and the car ran well while cold ...when the air pump
was working. Once warmed up it idles very badly.
We pulled to cover and everything as far as timing seemed fine.
He's stumped and thinks it might be that I pinched a wire (??) and getting
some sort of short.
My Bentley shows O2 sensors for each bank but everything else seems to deal
with both banks.
What are we missing??
Any BTDT would be appreciated.
Thanks
