Well you see Huw, it goes like this. Out of the 50 or more vintage  
skateboards I have bought on Craigslist over the years from sellers all over  
the country, I've found that about 75 percent of them will ship with little  
to no coaxing. Then there is the other 25 percent that list things on  
Craigslist to avoid shipping altogether. I am usually up front and tell the  
seller that I am NOT local in my initial contact... just so there is no  
misunderstanding. Sometimes they will respond kindly and say "no thanks" and  
other times they will ignore me entirely when i inquire. In this case it was  
the latter so I asked for help from the lists and had four very generous  
offers to help last night, so I made that an option to the seller in one  
last email, along with saying please and thank you. Would you believe that  
this morning the seller finally responded and said absolutely no shipping  
but it would be fine if someone local picked it up from them? Needless to  
say I'm in the process of arranging that today. That's the long answer. I  
think you know what the short one is.
