That's an interesting idea.  I seem to remember reading about a similar
incident on IATN with an A4.
I don't think it applies here though, as the car would have initial
compression and run for a few seconds before the oil pressure built up.

I believe that when the lifters have no oil the valve will NOT open as
intended.  The situation I had heard about was somehow due to an
overpressurization of oil in the gallery, which opens the valves prematurely
(or may not ever close).  Could it have been due to some failure of a
pressure relief valve???
