Airbag light comes on and stays on for...

There was a recall done on my '91 V8, perhaps your car got one as well.  The airbag control boxes were combined and relocated to be under the dash.  

I wouldn't waste my time trying to clean the connections.  It would be better to get a code reader and clear the fault memory.  If you can find a good dealer or service provider they might be willing to do it for free.

To repeat, if the warning light on the dash goes out the airbag is functional.  If you have a real problem like a bad clock spring the light stays on all the time.
