removing radiator expansion tank sensor

Trying to remove the radiator expansion tank for cleaning (1990 Audi 100).  All hoses are disconnected.  At the bottom there’s a plug that goes into the bottom of the tank which provides the radiator level sensor.  I can’t get it out.  It rotates as though there should be some point that it pulls out, but it doesn’t.    How do you dis-connect the plug or wires so that the tank can be removed?
