Well, there was one other car, which made it even less distance from the 
pump than I did (3 yards as opposed to 5). Trouble was, it was the 
high-octane pump, which not many people use - I can well believe we were 
the only two customers which used that pump all evening. Last time I buy 
the high-octane stuff, I can tell you :/.

Thanks for the detailed analysis, Huw. All sounds sensible. As I said, 
the car's in a garage 600 miles away, so it's pretty much in their 
hands, but it's really useful to know what sort of things we're looking at.
