Those locking pin/keyways are known to bend, crack and/or break. I suspect yours looks ok, but is functionally compromised... For now. I suspect 1 of 2 outcomes based on my experience. The ignition switch will fail again really soon, and or the locking keyway portion will eventually present you with dismembered parts rendering it 'officially' broken.

Spent some more time working on this today. Found that the wiper switch was
shattered internally. Used to work just fine, so maybe the assembly got beat
up while everything was apart. Pulled the stalk assembly from the parts-car
92 knowing the hazard switch would be different. Moved the hazard switch
assembly to the "new" wiper switch. Swapped over the other side too to see
if the cruise control will work better than it had been. Loosened up the 6
bolts that mount the steering column to the dash cross member to see if
maybe the steering wheel lock won't engage because it was binding or
something. No such luck.

I did find that the ignition lock tab did not fit into the switch smoothly
and would not slide in/out of the switch which prevented the lock cylinder
from popping back out and I think kept me from removing the key altogether.
I did file the tab down a bit until it fit just loosely enough to allow the
lock cylinder to pop out. Still, I don't get the loud click and the
steering wheel won't lock when turned. Weird.
