I have had quite a few occasions to be up close to the works cars (albeit
twenty five years ago as a divisional Pro Rally driver. Saw the Buffum car
while it still hd AUdi support and the Kreibeck car which he campioned
independently. I also have the (rare) hardcover book on the evolution of
the works quattro and I don't think this one fits the description.
First of all the cage is not integral. The works Quattro had a very stout
cage that was incorporated into the A pillars and led down into the strut
towers as well as across both the top and bottom of the front dash. And I
recall much different seats.....but memory is dimmer as the years pass.
My guess is that this is a independently developed car using Audi race
components.......and the price fairly reflects the price reflects the cost
of all those components.
