for sale - 1990 200QA (10v)

The (2 person) consensus of my pole regarding "for sale" ads on the list
was "sure, we need the traffic". So, with great sadness I must announce
that  this is the end. I need to sell my trusty 200Q 10v wagon. I am the
2nd owner, have owned it for the last 18 years, and it’s the second one I
have owned (the first one was totaled in 1996) . But I have too many cars,
and my wife wants the kids in a car with a gazillion air bags.

The stats:

   1. 1990
   2. 245,000 miles
   3. Tornado red/black
   4. Located in Newton, MA (just west of Boston)

The good:


   1. The engine, fuel injection , ignition etc are well sorted. The car
   quickly builds 1.8 bar boost (has scott mockery chip) and pulls strongly to
   redline. Its starts  cold and hot no problem, and idles smoothly.
   2. New: fuel distributor, coil, distributor, spark plug wires,
   alternator, WUR , door lock cams (changed to new style), fuel pump, fuel
   accumulator,  injector seals, motor mounts, brake proportioning valve,
   throttle body, fuel filter, oil cooler
   3. Moderately new: steering high  pressure hose, shocks, front calipers,
   left rear caliper, turbo oil return line, stainless cat and exhaust
   4. Interior leather, dashboard cover etc are in excellent shape. No
   tears, rips etc
   5. What works: Power seats, front power windows, left rear power window;
   air distribution flaps, climate control sensors, front passenger and both
   rear seat heaters, parking brake, diff locks, ABS
   6. Fully relayed euro headlights.  Low beams relayed so that bulb-out
    warning light does not come on
   7. No error codes
   8. Still has accordion cargo cover and cargo area  carpet
   9. Mostly hidden, custom made trailer hitch
   10. Baby-seat tethers added to back seat
   11. Many many spare parts, including spare mac 14 ecu
   12. Has 16” 5-spoke wheels now, also have the 15” basket weaves
   13. Burns about a qt every 1000 miles
   14. No accidents in the time I have owned it. Previous owner repaired
   left rear quarter.


The bad


   1. What does not work: A/C (works when charged, but compressor leaks),
   right rear window, driver’s door lock central locking micro-switch (central
   locking works with passenger door, not drivers), driver’s seat-heater
   (heater pad needs to be replaced – I have one), rear door speakers seem to
   be blown - they sound like crap
   2. Interior has slight mildew smell – I left the window open in the rain
   a  while back and even though I dried everything out, there is still a
   slight smell
   3. Should have a new timing belt soon
   4. Multi function indicator in IC works inconsistently – probably needs
   the IC circuit board inspected
   5. Needs a few new new IC bulbs
   6. Airbag warning light stays on for 2 to 3 minutes before it goes out.
   Its always goes out.

The ugly


   1. Many paint chips, scratches, dings and other and other paint defects.
   The left rear quarter was repaired/repainted by previous owner, and the
   clear coat on that quarter  is peeling.
   2. Headliner starting to sag- I removed the gooey foam residue and glued
    it back up,  and it seems to be staying


I would really like to get at least $1000, but to be honest, I have no idea
how to price a car with this many miles. Before I put it on BAT or
 Motorgeek or Audifans, I wanted to post it to this list.
