Automatic Climate Control 1990 Audi 100

Hmm, I'm having a sort of similar issue in my 1990 Coupe Quattro. If the
AC was set to "AUTO" before the engine was shut off, then restarting it
blows out air through the windshield defroster vent for about a minute or
two before it finally decides to switch to blowing out the dash vents... If
the AC was totally turned off before shutting off the engine, then after
restarting and pushing AUTO, it starts with the dash vents right away....
weird... and totally different than my 1990 100 model...
