Type 44 rear package shelf vs. audio configuration

My 1988 5000CS came equipped with a so-called "10 speaker" audio system.
One sort of odd feature of this system is a small black box at the center
of the front edge of the rear package shelf (or shelf cover) which contains
headphone jacks. When headphones are plugged into this box, audio signals
to the rear (?only?) speakers are interrupted -- I suppose this enables the
kids in the back seat to destroy their hearing while the adults up front
can enjoy piece and quiet. Stupid feature IMHO.

So, as I proceed to install a quality audio system into the car, I will
certainly delete this rear headphone jack feature (let them have
Bluetooth). But what to do about the jack box itself? It's ugly. I'm
guessing that other type 44s, particularly those without the "10 speaker"
Audi system, had rear package shelves without the silly headphone box but
still had speaker grills for the left and right, low range speakers mounted
just below the shelf. I would love to have such a package shelf.

Can anyone point me to a Type 44 model / year where the rear package shelf
looks just like mine except without the headphone jack box? Photo upon
request.

Thanks much!

P.S. Timing belt change complete, now looking into the functional but now
leaking AC compressor. The gods are never completely satisfied.
