'96 A6 remote

Folks,

One of the remotes for our 1996 A6 seems to have lost most of its range, so I'm looking for another.

This remote is the later C4 A6 style, no infrared port on the B pillar.

The remote itself is a small, thin two button fob with a place for a ring at one corner. It is not an integral key/remote.

I have not been able to find one on eBay or pretty much anywhere. Can this remote be replaced with a three button version? Any other alternatives? Anybody have a good one to sell?
