there is a confusion between the torsen type 3 (or "c") diff as in the previous rs4 which is a planetary diff (using the planetary gears to provide a true static torque split) and the "crown gear" diff which is an audi design, quite different to the type 3 torsen and in the latest rs 4 & 5. from what i understand the crown gear diff cannot support the torque of the v8's so the type 3 is used in the zf auto cars...
