the Audi community loses another member, John Larson

I found out yesterday that John Larson, former shop owner and regular contributor to the 20v list, passed away in June after short illness.

John helped me out a number of times with real world solutions to problems that I experienced with my Coupes and 90s.

He helped many of us pass emissions and was always there to give advice with the mystery issues that often confounded us (vacuum leaks, electrical gremlins etc)

I will miss his direct, no nonsense help

I just wanted to give a hearty thanks to John Larson for being a great wrench, an honest
fellow, and an all-around swell guy!  I purchased his 1984 4kq from him this past weekend,
flying from Atlanta to LA on his word that it was road-worthy of the cross-country journey.  I
shipped him my coil-overs, shocks & suspension rebuild pieces and he installed them for me.
Not only was the car road-worthy, but it was a total blast to drive the 2300 miles.  A little
stiff, my fault for selecting 500# springs in the front, 450# in the rear, but the work
(coil-over installation is not for the faint of heart-- can you say cutting & welding?) was
done to perfection.  It's now parked out behind my office (well, cube) window and I take an
admiring peek over my shoulder every few minutes.

John, thanks to you and your wife for being able to meet me in Santa Barbara!  Good luck
selling the 16v Scirocco.
