From my vague memory of analyzing the circuit, yes.
They actually read the physical position of the fuel gauge, IIRC.
You could test this by swapping a test resistor for the tank sender
(value picked based on manual, go for 1/2 tank, say) and seeing what it
does to the trip computer predictions.
You could also try a resistor equivalent to "almost empty" to see what
the autocheck does.
