2006 A6 won't start, can't get it out of park

If this like earlier setups, I'll bet the "mechanical" part ignition switch
which connects from key barrel to the column lock has failed... BTDT on
Audi 200. This would need to engage the park lockout mechanism as well.
Fix on older cards is to remove trim and drill a small hole in the steering
column in a specific spot, you can then use a small punch pressed into the
hole to release the tab which holds in the barrel and allows it to be
withdrawn from the column.
Would imagine it is the same for yours but I don't have the data, hopefully
another lister does!
