Prop shaft ujoint

The carrier bearing is attached to the underbody of the car and the u-joint is adjacent to the carrier bearing.  As long as you mark the halves of the propshaft to make sure you put them back together in the same orientation as they were in beforehand I can't believe the balance would change.

No BTDT on the 200Q, but the propshaft I repaired on my urq almost 30 years ago is still working just fine ...
That said ... thanks for the reference for a rebuilder  John!

 Subject: Prop shaft ujoint

Gents,

Patient is my 91 200 20v

Getting ready to install my new spec clutch and working on addressing the
prop shaft issues that have recently gotten worse!

Ordered a new carrier bearing (Mercedes) and ujoint per several different
posts. (Trying to get all parts on hand prior to disassembly!) Pulled the
parts car shaft out and of course that joint is seized. Pulled it apart
yesterday so I could test fit the ujoint that was referenced (26mm x 70mm)
Turns out the bore on the yoke is 24mm, not 26! Also, the referenced joint
(Neapco 1-0013) was just a tad shorter than I would like.

Have been through numerous dimensional listings looking for the appropriate
sized joint, but nothing jumps out as easy!!!!

So, ordered a 25mm x 76.5 joint yesterday for Monday. (Precision 399) Going
to bore (Sunnen honing machine) the yokes to 25mm (light) and will either
tack the cups or put washers over the ends and tack. Inside of the yoke will
not allow lock clips as it's not flat. (could machine flat, but tacking
should be quicker) Cups should end up near flush on the outside where as the
other joint would have been recessed apx 3-4 mm's each cup!

Any BTDT's, or something I might be missing?

Of course there's always the possibility the shaft in my car, as opposed to
the 200 20v parts car could be different? Plan on using the shaft I take out
of my driver to rebuild as the other shaft (parts) is pretty rusty/nasty!

Eric
