1) Silly VW's ;-). Will have to educate the owner since this was one of his primary complaints.
2) Yeah my first hunch was hurt gearbox, then I thought MAYBE linkage, then went back to hurt gearbox. Mounts are old but pretty reasonable shape. Owner is crazy enough (and wealthy enough) that he might have me actually fix this box instead of replacing so that'll be different.
I know the feeling... My good ol black 'fast' 5ktq broke its heater core a few weeks ago. I'm debating if I'm better off just getting another car... I can't bring myself to do the hack method. For the next few months I'll bypass it I guess, but come December I dunno what I'll do!
