Boost

Jay,

This ECU came from another car in which it boosted properly (as late as
Feb). Was in there for many years

Only thing different is the N75 (and a
whole slew of new and correct parts!). Old car had a “h” valve which now
tests bad. This car has a J valve. Allegedly the H gives a couple more lbs
of boost and also seemed to hit harder lower.

Knock sensors were replaced (bosch) and, from the Audi 3b training manual:
“When the knocking has been eliminated, the ignition timing is returned to
its normal value in 1.3 ° increments and boost pressure is returned to its
normal value.”

Boost only returns if key is cycled off. That would eliminate knock sensor
from above, and should eliminate boost leaks (which I’ve checked for
numerous times)

Not too many 20v’s around here anymore. (couple with vems, but that is no
help). From what I’ve rear VAGCOM won’t help, very little data available and
uses “values” vs real numbers!

ARGH
Car runs perfect other than this problem

A boost controller will eliminate the N75 issue; I just want more
adjustability than what most of them offer.

Was hoping someone would have an opinion on the Modshack Boost Machine???? A
new N75 is almost unobtanium and expensive. Boost machine would cost around
$100 to fabricate
