So, off to NYC this morning for Dr's appt, two+ hour drive. Cutting cross
town I noticed the high beam indicator on (lights were off). Shortly
thereafter I get alternator light and ABS etc. Flipped climate control to
channel 11 and showing 11.5 volt. Oh crap, still a ways to go and lots of
traffic!!! Finally made it to the hospital parking garage and of course had
to wait almost a half hour to get in.. Left car running, was okay (11.5)
except for rad fan coming on.. After getting inside, but still in the queue
to park it died. Used the garages jump pack to at least get it parked.
Ended up getting a expensive tow, but at least the car (and us) finally just
made it home!
Haven't dug in to anything yet but curious as to how the high beam indicator
ties into this. Key out, lights off, high beam indicator still illuminated?
I've had issues before with circuit board traces, etc, but no other lights
on (usually turn signals illuminate when trace ground gets "lost" although
I've had high beam indicator come on with bad ground too)
Would hate to slap in a new alternator only to find some other bizarre issue
that I haven't experienced in 20 yrs of type 44 ownership!!!
Thoughts?
Eric
