Key considerations:
* type 44 designed in the early 80s vs. C4 (100/urS4) in the late 80s) and
all that goes with that
* much improved ventilation in the C4 cars
* much stiffer body structure in the C4 cars = quieter, better suspension
capability...BUT: inherent suspension design in the two cars = same
* I have never meaured, but I believe the C4 is marginally smaller inside
than the type 44. based on my '91 200q vs my dad's '92 100s (that said,
the '91 200q sport seats are supposedly the lowest seats installed in this
size Audi car)
* C4 cars are 100-200 pounds heavier than that last of the type 44 cars
(and even 400-500 pounds more compared to the earlier cars)
* AAN vs 3B: this is a toss-up. Talk to Ned Ritchie if you plan to tweak
it. If not, the AAN has a bit more hp and torque
As Lee says, drive a few examples of both to get the best idea here. '91
200q seem to be going from $6k to $12k depending on miles and condition,
urS4/6 from $10k on up. FWIW, I'm aware of a '93 S4 w/ 49k miles &
Lehmann/Hoppen mods on it for sale in Seattle (at least it was a few weeks
ago), priced in the high teens, IIRC...email me if interested.
