I have one of each, a '91 200tqa and a 95.5 S6. The 200 is my daily driver
while the S6 is my wife's. I much prefer the 200. As some one else
mentioned, the steering feel is totally different. The S6 is effortless,
while the 200 requires some interaction. The other big difference is the
shifting, the S6 is so very smooth compared to the 200. I've heard others
complain about first and second on the S4/6s being notchy, but I sure
haven't experienced it. I also think that overall the chassis is stiffer on
the 200. My wife much prefers to dirve the S6, because it is 'cushy'
compared to the 200. She also complains that everything is 'so damn stiff in
that car'. Granted, the cars are set up pretty differently The 200 has 16"
wheels, new Bilstein HD shocks, while the S6 has 17" wheels, lowering Eibach
springs, and a chip. In general I have heard similar feedback from others.
When I rule out all the cosmetics, I just like the fact that the 200
requires more driver interaction for about the same performance. I feel more
in touch with the act of driving, not sitting back being passive. The other
thing is that cosmetics are issue for me. I think the S6 is a bit flashy
looking, shiny black, lowered with big Borbet C chrome wheels. The 200, on
the other hand just has Audi rings, no sport logo. No one knows what it is
(besides an old Audi station wagon), or realizes how fast it is and how nice
it handles. But take that with a grain of salt, a few years ago my daily
driver was a VW Thing!

> The 200 turbo quattros seem like a deal compared to the S4s. Thinking
about buying one of these. Besides the cosmetics, What are some differences
in handling/driving characteristics?
