[s-cars] manifold & chip revelation (I'm a dumb-ass)

OK, thought I knew a little about my car.
Rob Eagleye visited my home with his 92 S4, and we did the swap and drive
thing.  He said he thought mine pulled stronger than his, but I figured it
might be due to the more optimal gear ratios of my 6-speed.  Mine also has a
much more pronounced turbo whine.
Here's the dumb-ass part:  Rob, a week-long UrS4 owner, (but well versed
neu, modified S4 owner as well)looks under my hood and points out that my
exhaust manifold is not stock.  "Looks like Charlie Smith's" sez Rob.  This
starts me wondering.  Lift up passenger carpeting, lo and behold, it's been
cut.  Start putting two and two together, plus the fact that I pulled in
excess of 140per up a big hill a couple of years ago...no
limiter...periodically blow hoses...this thing's been chipped! (to the
previous owner's credit, he did a REALLY nice job of tucking the carpet back
together, so good in fact that I didn't notice it in the 4 FREAKING YEARS
that I've owned the thing, in which time I've vacuumed the carpet AT LEAST
twice.)DUMB-ASS!
Anyhow, I just found a mark on the underside of the manifold that starts
L03111, and I have not yet taken up the carpet, and would prefer not to if
there is a definitive way that I can figure out what I have.  Any help out
there?  Any good guesses?  Any wisecracks? (Paulie)
