[s-cars] Anyone get custom-valved shocks?

Jeff- very easy- I'd have the car corner-weighed so I know what
each shock/spring combo is subjected to, measure the amount
of suspension travel and then supply the vendor w/ the actual springs
so each shock can be optimized for each corner.

Simple race-car setup stuff, shock dyno and spring testers are common
in race shops.

If I went to Leda or someone similarly exotic/expensive, I could have
them
just build the shocks to the proper spec.

I don't know if that answered your question.

The biggest concern I have is that this would be so prohibitively
expensive
that I'd never do it. If I had the funds, I'd be willing to get JRZs for
a 993tt,
but no way would I spend that kind of money on an Audi, even if I had
the
money.

Taka,

This seems like a great mechanical design challenge for Igor K!!

A mass-spring-damper type of dynamics problem.

What you ask for is fundamentally correct, because I would think, a
'lite' damper (shock) coupled with a stiff spring would be non-optimal.
In the words of an ME, underdamped.

The question is: how would you specify the valving to be correct?, even
if you DID find a vendor to do it.

Just wondering- our A4 w/ H&R coilovers is quite
stiff, but the ride is _excellent_ for a lowered,
stiffer suspension setup.

My 200 in comparison crashes over bumps. Wondering
if anyone has gotten custom valved Bilsteins to match
exactly with your springs and if that would make a
big enough difference or not.
