I would suspect the valve seats before piston rings. Are you familier
with the trick of adding a little oil inside the suspect cylinder before
the compression test?
If you get a higher compression reading after adding a little oil then
it is likely a ring problem. If there is no difference then mabe valve
seat.
The thin coating of oil will help a poorly sealing pistion ring and
create a higher compression reading.
