[s-cars] Fuel smell.

More thoughts on the fuel smell issue...
(Let me also say that these are all best-case scenario's.  As others have
already said, a fuel odor can be dangerous.)

My old car, a 944, used to have a fuel odor if you overfilled the tank
because the overfill drain line leading from the filler nozzle area was
corroded and would sometimes get a tablespoon of gas inside the rear 1/4
panel.

Also, I know that the seals in the gas caps of these wonderful German cars
are notorious for leaking, which causes the escape of vapors from the tank.
I discovered this on my Scirocco after the cap flunked an emissions test
several years ago.  In NY, they pressure test the cap.  Replacing it took
care of an odor that car had occasionally.

Finally, where is the "carbon canister" located on the s4's which stores
excess fuel vapor?  That might be something else to check.
