Matt,
budget permitting I would definetely go for a separate set of 17"
summer-only wheels and tyres. Especially in the light of the fact that
you are in CO, and already have a set of 16" winter tyres. I personally
won't even bother refinishing the winter wheels at all.

Mine are:
Wnter: 16x7.5 OEM Avus with Nokia Hakka-1 in 205/55HR16
Summer: 17x8 A!Avantgarde with Sumitomo HTRZII in 255/40WR17
